The company opened offices at Lady Musgrave Road, St. Andrew, in March 2000 and has been concentrating on development and integration issues. Its Jamaican-operated office in Boston, Massachusetts does development and testing while the local office handles sales and marketing and product development, as well as customer interface.
According to managing director David Riley, "We are an electronic systems integration company, dedicated to provide hardware and software solutions for businesses and institutions, seeking to transform their manual operation into a fully-integrated system befitting of twenty-first century businesses."
IVS`s parent company, More Tickets Jamaica, provides complete hardware and software solutions for event Ticket Management, Library Information Management and inventory Management and Control.
IVS, uses advanced computer telephone technology to provide voice solutions for many industries and applications including Automated Attendants, Automated Fax-Back Servers and Appointment Reminders.
IVS is manned by Jamaicans who received their tertiary education in North America. Mr. David Riley received his bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University and a Masters degree in Material Science and Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, with a focus on electronic materials as well as training in computer integrated manufacturing systems. This integration of computer technology to enhance production is the important feature of IVS`s business.
In another two weeks, IVS will launch two services - the Turn Key Solutions for business and the Event Hotline. Its flagship product is the IVR solution that allows the company to offer 24-hour bill payment, order placing and tracking service to customers using their touch-tone telephone. This product helps to reduce costs and boosts the response time of user organisations. An events information hotline, 'Wha a Gwaan", has been developed by the IVS team to function as a central resource for events information, providing event patrons toll free access to up-to-date events information listed in categories. The categories include tourist-related activities and attractions, sporting events, concerts, plays, conferences and seminars, church and community events among others.
"There is a market for these services… The market is significant," said Mr. Riley. Their services, such as the Auto Attendant, are ideal for users of the PBX system, for example. A company that uses one or two operators to manage 40 telephone lines is reducing its efficiency level. ' Our products would answer all calls simultaneously and route them to the persons being called," he said.
"We've been watching the market for awhile and collecting our own data. The response (to the hotline) has been positive though there is some inertia amongst event planners. We've been doing testing for a month and getting good reviews so far," he said.
